New Castle, NH

New Castle is a cluster of islands located in Rockingham County New Hampshire. It is the smallest town in the state and was originally named Great Island. It is connected to the mainland by bridges.

New Castle is home to Fort Stark, Fort Constitution and a U.S. Coast Guard station. It is also home to the historic Wentworth by Sea Hotel, which was built in 1874 and overlooks the ocean and Piscataquog River.

According to the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau, Newcastle’s population at the time was 1,010 people. This included 443 households and 314 families. The average family size was 2.65 and the average household size was 2.26. Newcastle is comprised of 0.8 square miles of land and 1.5 square miles of water.

Newcastle Real Estate and Homes: In 2000, there were 488 homes. By 2007, it was estimated that real estate in NewCastle was comprised of a total of 518 homes. This included 459 single family houses and 59 multi-unit homes.
